Energy harvesting – energy without wires or batteries
A wireless wall switch is the perfect solution for individual room control: It can be installed anywhere and transmits radio signals to the actuator. However, the question arises: Where does this technology derive its energy from? While a battery might seem like the obvious choice, there is a better alternative: Energy Harvesting. The most efficient source of electricity is one that is inexhaustible. ABB's smart switches utilize this technology—harnessing energy from the simple movement of the hand that operates the switch. The kinetic energy from this motion is ample to generate useful power. Wireless electronics far surpass conventional mechanical switches, as they can achieve significant results with minimal energy. This means that numerous lights in a room can be controlled without the need for additional wiring to the switch. Energy Harvesting also proves to be practical in everyday life: The battery- and cable-free light switch can be easily located in the morning, even with your eyes closed, as it is positioned right next to your bed. It wirelessly transmits signals to any desired device connected via the ABB-free@home® wireless protocol, drawing the necessary energy directly from the user's fingertips, even from a light touch on the button.

Diverse light scenes in our Switch designs
Flexible, wireless, and battery-free—suitable for those who appreciate a range of lighting options. This technology is compactly integrated into popular ABB switches, ensuring that everyone can find the exact switch design they desire: solo®, Busch-art linear®, carat®, Busch-dynasty®, pure stainless steel, Busch-balance®, future linear® and Busch-axcent®.
Effortless Connectivity with ABB-free@home® Wireless Flush-Mounted Actuators
The inner workings of a classic switch are now smarter than ever, transmitting signals wirelessly. The relevant technology—lighting, air conditioning, heating, or blinds—can be activated using the smart switch or the ABB-free@home® app.
Pleasant and flexible dimming
Having a dimmer right next to the bed is practical, but has been technically challenging without an existing switch. The solution: A dimmer is installed in the existing switch point next to the door, controlled via a smart switch affixed to the wall next to the bed.
Networked inside and out
Creating beautiful outdoor lighting requires many lamps set at a distance from one another. With energy harvesting smart switches, placed at any desired location, the entire ambiance of the living room and garden can be precisely adjusted without any wiring.
Soft light and beautiful shadows
Those modernizing technology in their homes can now easily install motorized blinds. To control these, the old light switch is replaced by a smart switch, with 2-gang rocker, compatible with the ABB-free@home® wireless protocol. The blinds and lights can be controlled with a single element without additional wiring.
Connected and integrated
The smart switch seamlessly controls any device connected via the ABB-free@home® wireless protocol, such as the new wireless flush-mounted actuators. The link requires only a simple configuration through the ABB-free@home® NEXT app, greatly enhancing the functionality of decentralized actuators.
